DURBAN – President Jacob Zuma went head-to-head with 13-year-old Nokwanda Gcaba in a game of chess on Tuesday.
The annual chess tournament took place in Mandeni in KwaZulu-Natal.
It was a closely-fought game, and President Zuma put up a good defence.
But in the end he was outwitted by the 13-year-old girl and the teenager happily took the presiden’ts pawns.
The tournament is organised by the Jacob G Zuma Foundation and has been running since 2009.
“The competition is aimed at developing strategic young thinkers,” said Zuma.
